GOT PENCILS?

Have you seen the billboards . . Got Milk? Well, I want to know . . GOT PENCILS?

Today you will hear my personal testimony / some scripture / a story or an experience / a little prayer / questions to consider / a short scripture to read to help you know it is possible to know you are a Christian.

How to know if you are saved, born again, have Jesus in your heart, etc. (by Joyce = how it happened to me.). I was brought up in the church, went through confirmation, and was baptized. Yet, I never heard the words in my first sentence of this paragraph described. (Or it could be I was not paying attention.) Fast forward to the 1970's.

I was doing something I did not like . . fixing a full meal for a spouse near midnight because he was on 2nd shift. I am still not a night person. In order to stay awake to cook I listened to a local Christian station. Near midnight I enjoyed Bill Pearce's music and talk. Then at the stroke of 12 it was Bob Teal. They were both very influential in my life. I also began watching Billy Graham Crusades on TV.

I knelt both in front of the TV and in front of the radio over and over. I'm not sure which one "took" but the point came when I could see I was changing. I am not even sure of the exact day while many other people do know the specifics.

I began listening to Christian music and watching Christian TV. When I heard Evie Tournquist Carlson sing, I felt a moving, sweet feeling in my spirit. It seemed to be in my chest, something that I had never felt before and I loved it. I purchased her music as soon as I could. I also found a local Christian Bookstore. See book reviews on my blog . . no, I don't make a fee, it's just for fun and an effort to recommend books that helped me.

Here is a warning: after a year of studying, I thought I knew a lot . . boy, was I wrong! I think pride did that. Ouch!! Looking back, what I knew would fit inside a peanut shell. Also, it is God who monitors our growth. If we are growing too slow, He may give us a kick in the pants. If we are growing too fast, He knows how to slow us down.

OK, TEST TIME!! Got pencils?

2 Corinthians 13:5 NASB Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith;

EXAMINE YOURSELVES!

You can test yourself by reading scripture, then ask yourself: Does my every day down to earth thinking agree with the Holy Bible? If not, what should you do?

Did you know the Holy Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God?

(Romans 8:16)

Ask yourself if any of my testimony rings a bell with you.

Has the Holy Spirit convicted you of sin? That is different from feeling guilt. Just guilt may mean you are afraid of getting caught. If the Holy Spirit convicts you of something, you will want to stop doing it because our sin offends God.

Have you had peace of mind and heart when previously it was not possible?

Now, can you answer these questions for me?

Is a mouse in a cookie jar a cookie? My relative found a nest of baby mice inside a bluebird house . . are they bluebirds? Is every person in a church service a Christian?

True or False:

Faith needs facts to rest upon.

Faith is dependence on God.

There's an old movie called Miracle on 34th St. Natalie Wood was the girl. In the movie she wanted a house to live in and & a 'Santa guy' had told her she must believe. Natalie was in the back seat of the car and kept saying to herself "I believe". I believe". "I believe".

Was that faith?

In real life have you ever heard 1 adult tell a 2nd adult who was upset this: It's going to be alright. Everything will work out". Was that faith?

Is it possible to learn faith?

Do you pray every day? What do you pray about?

Read 1 John 5:18-21 which states we can know we are Christians.

Prayer: Father,

May this podcast and blog be acceptable in your site. Bless those who are listening

and those who are reading the blog. We love you, Jesus. Amen.
