The Temptation of Jesus in the Desert

Welcome to my updated blog! The site name is HAVE FAITH but the web address is the same:

Matthew 4:1-4. Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting 40 days and 40 nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread."

Jesus answered, "It is written: Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."

The first test was a test in the physical sense. It is what we all notice first about each other. Jesus had a body as we do and had a need for nourishment for it - bread. Hunger, after all, is a sign that you are healthy. We lose our appetite when we are sick.

Bread was not improper, but to Jesus it was better to be hungry than to use his spiritual power to make bread out of stones. According to the Father, He would wait. He said no by quoting scripture.

Matthew 4:5-7 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. "If you are the Son of God", he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written:

"He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift you up in

their hands, so that You will not strike your foot against a stone."

Jesus answered, "It is also written: Do not put the Lord your God to the test".

It takes longer to get to know a person spiritually, but they must open up and let you know them. We can only know a person as much as they allow us.

I could not help but think of a news blurb during the height of the pandemic. A church had purposely chosen NOT to take the vaccine because they believed that God would protect them from the virus. That choice seems to coincide with the 2nd test of Jesus.

Matthew 4:8-11. Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. "All this I will give you", he said, "if you will bow down and worship me".

Jesus said to him, "Away from me satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only'".

Then the devil left Him, and angels came and attended Him.

The next right (Lord's) thing is what the Lord wants us to do: Our education / vocation / daily lives. God has always had a plan for us while here on this earth. We are here for a purpose and God will tell us if we listen. Have you ever thought about worship and serving God go together? Have you ever asked God what He would like you to do? Age does not matter. Corrie TenBoom stated in Each New Day: (p. 102) "Guidance does not come automatically. Receiving guidance is a skill to be learned, not a method. It is intensely personal (1 Cor. 2:13).

Now, this is what I say at the end of my podcasts: Mind how you go! You know why? Because God minds how you go. And, He minds how I go. Til next week, Love and prayers, Bye . . .
