THE MOST DOMINANT THOUGHT WINS!
THE LIGHT OF HOPE. MAKE IT YOUR MOST DOMINANT THOUGHT!
Wife to husband: I am upset and really depressed. I know your job has health insurance. I want to see a psychologist or psychiatrist. I can't stop shaking. I'm shaking inside and now it's also on the outside . . do you see my shoulders shaking?
Husband's answer: No you can't. Insurance won't pay for that.
Wife to husband: I'm telling you I need help!
No, you can't. I say you don't need it. The insurance will not pay. We can't afford it.
Wife wants to say . . if you would stop gambling we could afford it, but is afraid of him.
Wife begins to consider suicide.
Do you see the light shining on the word Hope on the first picture?
What surrounds it? It is surrounded by darkness. See below:
John 1:3-5 The Message
Everything was created through Him (Jesus);
Nothing - not one thing -
came into being without Him.
What came into existence was Life,
and the Life was Light to live by.
The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness;
the darkness couldn't put it out.
John 1:5b New American Standard
the darkness could not comprehend it.
John 1:5b New International Version
but the darkness has not understood it.
John 1:5b New Living Testament
and the darkness can never extinguish it.
John 1:5b. Phillips
and the darkness has never put it out.
The wife felt like she was standing at the bottom of a black pit. The pit was so deep she could not climb out. No one was there to help her climb out. There was no light when she looked up. It appeared to be a dark starless night.
No one knew she was in the pit.
She had never heard of a pit like this.
Because her husband threatened her, she could not tell anyone she was in a pit.
But she could tell God.
She could pray. Jesus is the Light of the World! He draws us to the light. He spent 9 months in the dark of Mary's womb so He could become one of us.
I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12
Some people don't believe in prayer. Some people think it's a waste of time.
But if you ask the ones who have faced death whether at the hands of an abusive spouse or on the battlefield with other soldiers, they will tell you . . yes, they pray.
If you cannot pray, then ask others to pray for you. You don't even need to tell them why if you cannot bring yourself to saying the words out loud.
God created the world by speaking. That's how prayer works too. We speak to God and He speaks to us. We are supposed to live with God's help and knowing He is with us. We are indeed together and it is personal.
It is not like "the force be with you". That is like a law.
The wife in this story went to the doctor for help also. Jesus is her light both day and night.
Depression is a downward cycle. It is comparable to putting a slinky at the top of the steps and watch it going down. If you don't stop it, it may lead to suicide. There is a suicide hot line: 1-800-273-8255 or text
