Why don't you throw your bottle in the river and trust the Lord to help you?

The father told this story in public so I don't think he would mind me telling.

The boy was very young, but too old for a bottle of milk. As the boy and his Dad stood near the flowing river, his Dad asked the question below the picture shown above. The son had tried before to give it up but couldn't. He looked up at his Dad, smiled and threw the bottle in the turbulent waters. The desire for the bottle floated away too as the boy put his trust in God.

Psalm 131. A song of Ascents. of David. ESV

1. O LORD, my heart is not lifted up;

my eyes are not raised too high

I do not occupy myself with things

too great and too marvelous for me.

2. But I have calmed and quieted my soul,

like a weaned child with its mother,

like a weaned child is my soul within me.

3. O Israel, hope in the LORD

from this time forth and forever more.

I needed to ask myself this week . . . when my soul was not still and quiet . . like a weaned child . . what do I need weaned from? So I'll ask you too . . has your soul been still and quiet this week . . if not . . what do you need weaned from?

Can you find a quiet place today where you can talk with Jesus . . and tell Him you need His help? He is waiting to hear from you. Tell Him what the person, place or thing is that you just cannot give up yet . . and you need His help. Have faith . . He will help you!
